Would my child qualify for the Federal Scholarship program?
Here are the cut-off income levels for all 62 counties in New York
Since I published my article on the new federal scholarship program, I received questions asking what is the income below 300% of the area median gross income in NY.
EdChoice has published a great map with the cut-off income for the entire country.
EdChoice also explained that scholarships are valid for “all educational expenses covered by the Coverdell Education Savings Accounts, which requires enrollment at an eligible school. Once enrolled, eligible expenses include tuition, fees, tutoring, special needs services, books, supplies, computers, room and board, and transportation.”
Here is the data for NY counties. If your annual income is below the cut-off, your kid would be eligible to apply for a scholarship (assuming Governor Hochul will opt in to the program).
I also received messages of parents who contacted Governor Hochul to request that NY opt-in the federal scholarship program. Here is the link if you want to send a message to Governor Hochul.
