NY families don't know how much our government spends on public schools
The survey from 50CAN confirms that the NY public doesn't know that we are the #1 state in education spending
Sometimes I think I spend too much time talking and writing about the fact that NY is the #1 state in education spending, but the new 50CAN survey shows that the majority of New Yorker families don’t know how much we spend per pupil or estimate it at less than $1,000.
In fact, NY is the top state in the survey where families underestimate the per pupil spending - only 1% of families answered the correct answer between $35,000 and $40,000.
Here is my article about this today on City Journal:
What I am reading this week
I just finished the biography Buckley: The Life and the Revolution That Changed America and learned so much about our country’s politics in the 60s and 70s. The book is long but very well researched and written.
I am also reading with my son The Complete Novels of Sherlock Holmes and he is really enjoying it.
